Universities don't consider whether their course is preference number 1 or 8 when deciding to make you an offer. All of your preferences inform VTAC by the same deadline if they wish to make you an offer. Tertiary institutions provide a range of seminars, workshops and hotlines to assist applicants with changing their preferences. Change of preference is closed during each selection period just before each offer round but is open at all other times. For more information, check the dates and fees page.
You can open your course preference list from the link on the home page of your VTAC account, or under Course application. You can add courses by using the institution and course drop down menus or by entering the course codes. You can delete courses by clicking on the red X to the right of each line. You can re-order your course preferences using the up and down arrows to the right of each line. Don't forget to list course in the order you would most like to study them, with the course you most want to get into at the top.
Don't make the mistake of listing your course preferences in the order you think you will get into them. Selection authorities may make multiple offers to the same applicant, but you will only receive an offer for the highest offered course on your preferences. If you don't list courses in the order you most want to study them you may end up missing out on the course you most want to do. For more information on how offers work, see Offers, enrolment and deferment.

February Round 1 Offers are released on Tuesday 1st February While receiving your results and offers can stir up many feelings, don't make the mistake of listing your preferences in the order you think you will get into them.
Your preferences should reflect your courses in order of desire so that those processing your application can see what you're really passionate about. By ordering your courses in order of preference, you allow a higher chance for your offer to be the one you really want and not second or third best.
But keep in mind, you need to always check course selection criteria as some courses may have already been filled or closed. One of the great things about January of February First Round Offers is that you don't have to accept them.
According to VTAC, once you have received an offer you cannot delete that course from your preferences, however, you can move it up or down your list, or choose not to take it.
What this means is that you can change the order of your other preferences or add new courses. Adding new courses is a powerful decision as it lets those processing your application know that you're serious about joining that course. At Collarts, we welcome new and direct applications , and are more than happy to answer your questions if you decide to place us somewhere in your preferences. We hope that helps you navigate Change of Preferences!
If studying at Collarts interests you or if you're wanting to learn more, check out our courses here. You will be asked to provide their details such as name, contact information, relationship and date of birth.
Assigning an authorised nominee entails certain rights and responsibilities for the applicant and the authorised nominee. For further information, see Authorised nominees. Once you have submitted your course application, you can still change your preferences. Change of preference is closed during selection periods just before offer rounds but is open at all other times.
