And their horror about the bits of their bodies that never saw the light of day. They couldn't talk to doctors or parents. They wept in their bedrooms sitting under posters of Duran Duran in fear and self-loathing. It was a pleasure to be in a position to put some of that straight.

But these were the Thatcher years and there were also as many girls worried about their employment prospects as there were about their bodies and their boyfriends. Some letters stayed with me, such as the long one written on thick exercise-book paper with a heavy-handed Biro.

It was a horror story about a group of girls viciously bullying a vulnerable boy. Naturally I remember the naughty ones. Reading them, you could hear a gaggle of girls getting together to write them. In one they were dieting, and what these saucy mademoiselles wanted to know was how many calories there are in a mouthful of sperm. When I read that one out to the office, it provoked a prolonged debate resulting in the reply that it was probably about equivalent to a helping of carrots.

But those weren't the only ones into dating practices way beyond their years. There was the girl who wrote in asking what you can safely put in your vagina. I was nonplussed. So I rang a doctor who said it was safe to put in anything that was safe to put in your mouth. I put this one to the office - one screamed, "Surely not a toothbrush!

The only time I ever got letters from adults was after a girl had written in very upset because there was a dog tied up outside a nearby house, howling. Live chat. Tv and read magazines and did all the other things with instagram. On one hand without instagram on the other hand that was the difference so presumably.

They isolated instagram loses. The trick obviously is. How do you preserve the the chance for ella frazier to post that video at the same time. I don't understand how you can preserve the good and get rid of the bad.

So leo can i address that directly a bit of a pithy this week and i and when during a session that was put together by someone at the behest of the facebook oversight board And it was. It was Chatham house rule all talk about.

What i i sat and thought and the question was facebook has asked the oversight board to give them judgments about whether and what exceptions to have about facebook's rule that you shouldn't have any identifying addresses or images of homes on facebook and whether there's a journalistic rule public policy role of protest exceptions to those rules and what occurred to me during that was that.

Didn't that risk of being caught. Still but you know okay. Well that has been six on sex. We're gonna get dad. Took what i feel like.

I've learned just as much about stacy's data. I have about stacy dad. Do you think that this will come up in conversation. When's the next time you guys are gonna see each other no one mojo in the morning six hundred six county dad has got it going on. His dad has gone gone on. I like the ads. Like that's kind of obama like a dad like that's my kids definitely have a lot of conversations with your kids in would be atypical.

I think to a lot of relationships. Yeah i do. But then. I also don't in regards to my kids Sometimes feel like. I'm not trustworthy so to speak so god probably good that our kids have another parent to balance out. Thank god functional ours. Got if it wasn't honestly. I wasn't for our kids You know mothers and for chelsea in. Chris we'd be we'd be screwed mojo in the morning show so my son. Luke is gearing up ready for homecoming.

And that's just around the corner and i had to a couple of things with homecoming. Tell you guys so. I had to take lookout to go get a a suit for homecoming Homecoming they were just like suits in he had.

He doesn't have a so he literally. Lucas luke's shoe size has gone from like a size. Eight to size like ten and a half in the last year. His pants sizes have gone from. He was wearing like a size twenty something to like. Now he's like a size like thirty or thirty. Two in his semen is pants. He's got an. That is as big as my seem as like thirty or thirty two so i had to go get him a suit so i ended up going into and i gotta shout outs slim. Who he went to his his place.

You always talked about. What was that place called sam. Michael sam mike. I remember mile nurtured twelve mile. No it's passed or too late middle belt in twelve mile and it's one of those places that from the street it looks like the place a nothing and then go on inside and they've got like every like name brand like they have they have stuff like at macy's and nordstroms has but they so they have an nice up so i brought lucan to suit shopping and i picked out a suit for him and i look at the prices right away when it's not for me i mean it's my kid.

He's gonna outgrow the things where like twice you know we might be able to get out of it and like a year from now and i picked out the suit that i thought was a really nice suit. It was like a dark suit. A black suit. I come out luke's not even nearly in that suit.

He's with this beautiful kellyanne girl whose dad owns the place. Any ends up picking out his own suit and look at the suit that he ends up picking out. I'll sharp. The one i picked up does the avenue in the family. Coming up that he'd you wear it for besides home. Believe me we're going to. We're going to random people's like weddings and funerals. Said this kid gets wear out of this out of the suit but he actually was was kind of cute so he had the swatch of of closure of color.

Whatever that the girl that he's going go to homecoming with was gonna wear and he showed it to The girl at the at the suits place and said you know. He wanted to match so he matches a little bit got. It's like purple issue or something like that. Yeah but the interesting thing was. He won't like he. He has an astor yet. Formerly it's weird. How they do this.

They talk in school about how we're going to go to homecoming together. But they don't formally ask her dress watch so there are going well exactly. But i guess that there's got to be like homecoming. They have like homecoming proposals. Hokuto proposals that that these kids do in supposedly he's got to come up with some kind of A proposal to ask ask her. So how are you putting your nose into well.

So i actually googled homecoming proposals. Because we've done so much stuff on our show before we've done like you know Help kids get proposals and stuff like that for their know.

Proms and things and i googled like a bunch of them. And i found this article that was in seventeen magazine. I didn't even know. Seventeen magazine was still around. I used to read that in. Ym allure the only time. I ever saw seventeen magazine was pediatrician's office when i was a kid but They had different ones. That i thought were really cool. Like hold on. There's one i actually thought was really cool. So are you giving him these ideas. Well i sent it to him and he goes he goes enough dad like that was like his tax message back to me but one of the proposals.

I was really really cute. It was is a kid who brought a door with him to school and He had the door on. Let me see where it is. It was really really funny. Oh here it is. It's it was a door and he wrote on the door.

Natalie i in the letter a. And he had the huge door. It was great. But you know what. I'm glad to hear creative without being super over the top expensive because you do see some of those homecoming and prom proposals that come with a helicopter. And you're like. I'm on kids others and there are some crazy ones in here too. And then there was another couple of other ones where a kid had a big old like bouquet of dumdum soccer soccer's and it said bs smarty and it had smarties in the bottom says vs marty and take this dumdum to homecoming.

Was that cute so loose like i'm not doing that. You helicopter you could. You could call sergio from a helicopter for company. I'm serious he would help was a place called again. My flight tours dot com luego lemme. So here's the then. This is the other part. That was actually pretty funny.

Luke gets we get joey on the phone and you guys know that you can listen to the joe show in the afternoon on channel nine five five. But he does mornings in tampa florida on ninety three Three f l z. So joe and i are bidding. I never thought that my son being radio is going to come to this point. We are now battling for bits so we are bidding for luke to hello joe.

What a what song you plan. I liked that song. Don't use that does your cat. Yes joe telling you guys about how the other night you and i were were fighting against each other bidding for luke to let us do the homecoming proposal on the radio. Yeah wait a minute joe. Where are we in the air. Oh my bet okay idea for him or you just you just want it to happen on your so. Why wanted to happen on my.

Yeah we he. I what was he talking about again. It was the well.. I was like you recently. Had to let go of a friend i'm like. Are you working three jobs for jobs. Like it's almost earned. It was just like facts coming in straight into your system and you just start talking so usually for my clients. Do thirty two one hour sessions.

And i talk really fast. Because there's all this information coming into me in some people either sit there and cry the whole time because it's affirmations for everything that'd be feeling you know and prescott gra- grandmothers has been with us.

You know for a couple of rena and the whole aspect is liked to not fear the unknown. Because you need to trust your gut whether it's a good feeling or not right. Sometimes i deny clients because unlike. The vibe isn't right as i don't feel good about this therefore i respectfully decline to do a session with this person. So it's usually. I just trust myself more and more. You know through this neil's like oh i can see through the facade. I could see through the mask. Honan on exactly what it is and it's made me into a better better storytellers.

Made me into a better person. It's made me a better human being right with hard boundaries as well because once you allow yourself to access gift and with kim syrians it's also empathy right as the ability to absorb energies from other people. And sometimes you get lost. You don't know who you are because you've been absorbing so much right friscos also the way. So it's like how do you say i. I put this boundary up.

I will not take this home with me. But that's where it started for me in a row. And i think what's great to rock how i've seen as a friend develop with this kind of newfound passion and practice is the second that i introduce you to someone new you either either take to them immediately or you don't take you know like faking it so no no.

You're not. It's just like you. Like i could tell like when when we met. We met up with them. Cynthia weighing brunch the other day and like immediately it was like as if they were just like gangbusters. You know and i was like wow. This is like she's following. Her intuition. And i would say this and i know mingy you have a very religious background as well and that's something that you talk to with my husband on the podcast about go back and listen to that episode's raid.

Yep yeah it's a great one. But i think that a couple of years ago because i think the biggest reading that you did for me rocks was just about a year ago. I think that even five years ago if you had told me you were going to do. Kind of not. Quite a seance. But you know. Halfway between seance and a tarot reading. I don't think i would have been open to it.

I might just politely declined and then been afraid of it like you know but when we did it like she said immediately right when the candle was lit right when we started the session like my the spirits of my grandmother's came tumbling through the air and they were noisy and they were allowed and they were present and i was immediately just a bucket of tears just pouring down my face and i found it to be this moment in my own spiritual journey where i was able to let go of the fear that christianity kind of imposes on anything but christianity.

Anything but the holy spirit. Anything like a whatever quote unquote good spirit. I had so many walls up about that. And so much like like almost like It was a trigger point. I remember going to like a buddhist temple once and being overwhelmed by spirits. And i read it to be negative and traumatizing because of how i was raised. So having this moment with roxy was a big moment for me of realizing. I've i've really started to shed that over religious like very conservative view of what spirituality can look like so.

I'm curious would you. So much i trust. You know like. I notes that step. It wasn't big. And i think that's it's very meaningful that like a friend that means as much to press cowards.

Anybody that they can. There's so many things i think. People that we love that we allow into our lives and trust and become vulnerable with the power that they have to either intentionally or unintentionally openness up to other aspects of life other ways of thinking other perspectives and other ways to find meaning in the world.

Because like to your question i got. I was definitely raised to believe anything. I was always curious about horoscopes. Since i was really little like seventeen magazine. Whatever like the newspaper. I just curious about people. I've always been very drawn. I was always like driving down the street in our neighborhood. I wonder about who lives in that house.

Why do they drive that car. Would they do for work. Like what's your favorite color was flavor of ice cream. I'm just been that person. And so when i get these clues through horoscopes. Or what have you personality tests like. It just gave me more information. And i was so curious to understand what drives them. What makes them tick. What makes them light up. What makes them sad. And now it connect me to like a bigger force in the world and so there's part of me that always felt that since the geckos far back as i can remember i personally i kind of felt really early on roxy that i like didn't know at the time that i had like impasse powers i could've you'll other people's feelings so strongly i just start crying because if somebody was hurting it would fuck me up inside.

I would feel their pain. And i was beside myself because i was like well. They're like how can you the end. Then i had a lot of issues within my own family where. I was like bullied by my own family. I was kind of bullied to other people. So it was just very sensitive to all the pain and unhappiness and everything was like. I'm like a raw nerve fray and so to grow up that way with that personality or that tendency not sensitivity and then to be in this very rigid structure of like how you're supposed to receive truth right and what you're supposed to how that's supposed to look how it's supposed to be distributed to people how it's communicated by what doctrines by what books and by what power structures like.

It was a conflict. I think it's always at. I'm still unpacking it now. To this day of where do the way that i look at the world now which is with much more openness and curiosity versus like how rigid i also was very much aligned with that i- abided by a super obedient and i was fear. Fear driven of. Like if. I don't abide by these rules like Who am i as a person.

Not even like the karen stick thing of like the heaven and helping. That was kind of like minimally impactful. Like yeah i wanted to go to heaven but it was really like. What does this say about my being by. Who i am i. Am i like a complete if you you are not Being a good person which that good person was very in this very small container by the christian right culture.

I won't even say by like the bible. Well, a couple of years ago, I moved into my Aunt's house because my new house had yet to be built. I slept on one of the Sofa-Beds in the freeeeeezing basement I have frostbite scars to prove it :P and had nothing to do at night.

Besides the obvious though. Well the only reading material under the small nightlight that I could find were cookbooks and this magazine called Seventeen.
