Why is god laughing synopsis

Chopra is at his best in this book when speaking through the mysterious teacher, as it gives him a chance to expound on his usual spiritual themes. There is no question that he is a master at communicating usually complex ideas in simple nuggets. Some of my favorites are:. It was based on having a reason to be happy and no reason to be sad. But happiness based on a reason can be snatched away from you at any moment. Now you are happy without a reason.

Throughout his spiritual journey, Mickey experiments with humour. The state of his humour becomes symbolic of where he is in his process of awakening. When he is self-absorbed or self-pitying, his jokes are often crude or based on putting down others, and they fall flat. As he progresses, his jokes come from a lighter, more joyful place within himself, and become funnier. For other book reviews on this blog, go to the Book category.

I could have lived a full life without reading this book.

I gave it more than one star because reading it is a bizarre experience and that alone might make it worth it. I mean, my edition had an introduction by Mike Myers yes, THAT MIKE MYERS , then has a weird and short novel about some successful comedian named Mickey Fellows having a spiritual crisis and running around in various places with some weird spiritual guide showing him stuff that's supposed to have meaning like people walking out a store wi This is one of the weirdest books I ever read.

The end. I read it in one sitting. Not because it was good but because it was so weird. What a trip. Not a good book but you can have a drug trip without the drugs, so two stars? Aug 03, Creamery rated it really liked it.

I had no expectation and guess when I first bought this book. I certainly had no clue at all. But then when I tried to give it a go, I was quickly absorbed to the remarkable Journey of Mike Fellow.

This book offers an interesting perception which can be a material to discuss with your friends later on. It showed me a new enlightment which I never had anywhere before and sometimes I questioned them myself.

I love the spiritual thought were delivered with a great story which surprisingly not gonna I had no expectation and guess when I first bought this book.

I love the spiritual thought were delivered with a great story which surprisingly not gonna bore you and kinda made me guessing how it's gonna end. Plus point, it has lots of relatable quotes. I felt like I didn't really know Mickey as intimately as I would have hoped, it felt as though I was only meeting him on the surface.

I liked the tidbits that Deepak shared at the end of the book, it made me realize how important certain things are, and how looking at our lives can impact many people around us.

Overall, an 'okay' book, but nothi I don't think I really got the just of what Deepak was saying in this book. Overall, an 'okay' book, but nothing that I would remember for years to come. I don't think these types of books really jive with me, for some reason or other. Jan 19, Daniel rated it liked it. Having now read a few titles by Deepak Chopra, I have to say that his work has a bit of substance.

I would not suggest that one try to read everything he has written, but his rereading and rewriting of the Buddha was certainly a wonderful and eye opening book. I enjoyed the tale in Why is God laughing. I am already sensitized to the ideas that are presented in it, so in the absence of anything astounding I do not feel that I need to keep this book on my shelf. Having said that, It will not hurt Having now read a few titles by Deepak Chopra, I have to say that his work has a bit of substance.

Having said that, It will not hurt you to read this book if you are searching on this wavelength. Jun 22, Rachel Meyers rated it liked it Shelves: audio-books , availible-on-overdrive. I respect Deepak Chopra very much. He is spiritually insightful and an all around good man who brings Christianity to the masses in an understandable way. This book was not good though. If I didn't like Chopra so much, I'd give it 2 stars. The whole thing bordered on slapstick and ridiculous.

The only part that resonated was the afterward when the actual book was over and Chopra was talking as himself. Jun 28, Corey rated it it was ok. This book was ok, I guess, nothing spectacular. The audio book version was read by the author, and apparently Mr. Chopra has about as much personality as a pile of dirt.

And there's a lot of detail, where detail is not necessary. It's not an architecture book - who cares whether your bedroom is located off the foyer or down the hall?

Given a little more enthusiasm and a little less detail, this book could have been a lot better. Jul 21, Harmeet Bhatia rated it it was amazing. This is one book I read years ago and have it away to a friend, now I am reading it after buying it from Google a digital copy. It starts as a story but hooks you up.

But later part seems to be just dry preaching. I wish Deepak continues to make the points without preaching. This way the folks allergic to his over the top tone may have chance to get the point. Jul 31, Melody Walker rated it it was amazing. Finished this book in a day. Honestly this was my first time reading Deepak Chopra and now I definitely want to read more of his writings.

This book is perfect if you've recently gone through tragic times, feel stuck in the patterns of your life, or simply just want to receive quality advice. I'd definitely recommend this!
